I am a certified yoga therapist and yoga teacher. I teach gentle, mindful and breath-centred practices, following the classical approach of T. Krishnamacharya. Working with small groups and individuals allows me to offer modifications to those who need a more individualised approach. My aim is to offer every student the opportunity to practice yoga in a friendly, supportive and non-competitive environment. Each class will help to calm the mind, build strength, increase flexibility and improve overall wellbeing.
My yoga journey started 25 years ago, when I decided to try yoga classes to ease my chronic back pain. I continued to practice yoga to improve my general fitness, whilst I was working in the beauty and wellness industry as a spa and remedial massage therapist, and then later as a college educator. Over the years, my passion for teaching anatomy and physiology and the inner workings of the body led me to deepen my interest in the energetics and philosophy of yoga. I did my yoga studies and teacher training with Michael de Manincor in 2016 and I have recently completed my yoga therapy training with Nikola Ellis. After my diagnosis with Osteoporosis ten years ago, I have developed a particular interest in yoga for bone health. I am continuing my research into using yoga therapy for fall prevention in older adults.
I enjoy offering small group classes and courses and working with individual clients. I also run yoga for fall prevention courses for older adults and all my classes cater for clients with injuries and/or illness. Yoga therapy classes can be used as a tool to increase self-empowerment and form part of a healing pathway to improve mental, emotional and physical health.
I look forward to sharing my passion for Yoga with you!
