Welcome!
Hi, I am Liz. I teach weekly small group classes and individuals in a nurturing, supportive environment and I welcome students with all levels of experience and flexibility. I integrate the ancient wisdom of yoga practice and philosophy with current health sciences of mind and body. I also run a yoga program for fall prevention for seniors, I teach therapeutic yoga for people with cancer and I offer classes for people with osteoporosis.
My yoga journey started 25 years ago, when I started taking yoga classes to ease chronic back pain and to improve my general fitness. I worked in the wellness industry as a spa and remedial massage therapist, and later as a college educator. During the course of my career, I developed a passion for teaching anatomy and physiology and increasingly, the mind-body connection and the energetics and philosophy of yoga. I studied the Diploma of Yoga Studies & Teacher Training with Michael de Manincor at the Yoga Institute and further qualified as a children’s yoga teacher with Loraine Rushton at Zenergy Yoga. I also trained in Restorative Yoga with Lizzie Lasater and I completed my Meditation Teacher Certificate and Graduate Certificate of Yoga Therapy with Nikola Ellis at Adore Yoga.
My teaching style follows the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya, and I offer gentle, mindful and breath-centred yoga in a non-competitive and friendly environment. I encourage each student to develop an individual practice to suit their needs. In my classes, I combine movement and postures with breathing techniques and relaxation, with the aim to help to calm the mind, build strength, increase flexibility and improve overall wellbeing. Yoga therapy can be used as a tool to increase self-empowerment and form part of a healing pathway to improve mental, emotional and physical health.
I look forward to sharing my passion for Yoga with you!
